I actually really like your quick sketches. What you're seeing I think when you say you like them more is a greater spontaneity and it makes more painterly and less obviously photoshop which creates a pretty cool look.

If I may make a suggestion if you just go back in and clean up some of the areas that the photoshop brush is the most obvious these could be really cool almost finished pieces and it's a style that makes you easily recognizable.

I really appreciate you shared this because I learned something for my own work by seeing yours. Thanks.

Thank you for the great feedback ! I'm might return to this image, but it for me has some flaws, with the composition. For me its just fun to see something evolving in the painting process's of a sketch. I usually get bog down with the details :)

I concur, there are some compositional issues with the image and while I'm usually a HUGE stickler about composition I see this as a sketch for playing with technical ideas so I'm willing to forgive some of that.
